Malta has a colorful mixture of the cultures so there is lot to see in this beautiful island.Malta offers you the chance to swim in lovely beaches of Mediterranean Sea. You can walk around amazing streets of old towns or enjoy the fabulous night life. Not to miss any of these, make sure you did your plans effectively. Don’t you know how? Just follow us:)
HOTEL IN A RIGHT CITY
Choosing your Hotel close to the main buses’ route is very important. Taxi system is different in Malta. You have to pay to the stations not to the drivers and there is a fix price for everywhere. For example from airport to St. Julian’s it is 20 euro. Taxi is not so cheap and easy to find so you will be using busses all the time.
St Julian’s Bay is perfect to stay. It is the best of touristical regions , easy to reach everywhere with bus, 15 min by walking to the famous nightlife in Peaceville, and St George’s bay for swimming. There are lots of hotels that you can choose according to your budget. We stayed in Dean Hamlet Hotel at one of their sea view rooms in the picture. It was €85 per night.
Mdina & Rabat
Go to the bus station in the morning. In summer time stations are crowded and busses sometimes comes full. They are not punctual at all. We could never catch the bus on time.
Wake up early, catch a bus and go to the amazing old towns Mdina and Rabat. You may want to spare all of your day in these towns because there is lot to discover. Firstly you may join train tours for a quick look and then you should walk through the wonderful streets and have some drinks in the authentic cafes. Click here for detailed info about structures of Mdina and Rabat.
St George’s Bay
In the afternoon turn back to your hotel in St julian’s, wear your swimsuits and walk to the St George’s Bay, take a beer with you and have rest on the beach.
It is a region which is live until morning. There are lots of bars and clubs mostly filled with youths. P.S.: There is a free entry for gentlemans clubs if you are looking for that kind of fun 🙂
You can also have dinner in Peaceville before start drinking 🙂
Wake up early again:) This is the key for Malta to be able to find an empty bus! Go to the Ic-Cirkewwa (in the north) with bus and then buy a ferry ticket (10 euro with return) to Comino island. Famous Blue Lagoon is waiting for you with its crystal clear water. Enjoy swimming here!
Some may want to go Gozo island but it is further and much bigger then Comino so not suitable for a short trip. Also interesting Azure Window doesn’t exist anymore.
While you are turning back to the south, stop at Qawra. After crowded Blue Lagoon trip, you will enjoy silience of this place. Qawra also has a very nice sea and pleasant cafes with sea view.
St Julian’s Bay
Spend one of your nights for a good dinner. Choose one of the Sea-food restaurants located in St Julian’s seaside.
It is a lovely fisherman village with a big market area on sundays so come here in a sunday morning and do your shopping before it gets hot. Don’t forget to take pictures with colorful fisherman boats.
In the noon go to Pretty Bay for swimming. (Walking takes almost half an hour, try to find a bus)
Finally the amazing capital Valetta! You need more than 1 day to discover this city 🙂 Upper Barrakka Gardens & Saluting Battery, St John’s Co-Cathedral, Carmelite Church and National War Museum, Grand Harbor are the best attractions. Click here for more info. You will also enjoy just walking through the old streets of Valetta and discover unique beauties and panoromic view points yourself. We are sure you won’t stop walking until you really get tired:)
Watch the sunset at your own view point, then go for the dinner in open-air restaurants.
Especially during hot summer time, Aperol Spritz is the best choice to be freshen up, in the breaks of your daily trip. Enjoy! 🙂
